Flip Ledger - Privacy Policy

Flip Ledger is a browser extension for Chrome that shows a watch dealer the real margin on a watch listing page they are viewing and, with a licence, comparable prices for the reference.

What the extension handles

• The listing page you are viewing. To show a figure in the page, the extension reads the price and the title from the listing page already open in your browser. That reading happens on your own machine, and the figure is shown back to you in the page.
• Your own data. The watches, sales, rates and observations you enter are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's local extension storage. They stay on your computer and are not uploaded anywhere.
• Your licence key. If you buy the paid unlock, the extension sends the licence key to Gumroad, and only to Gumroad, to check that the key is valid. That is sent only when the key is entered or re-checked.
• The comps file. With the paid unlock, the extension reads a comparable prices file from our own static host (https://assistantlloydlee.github.io/flip-ledger/comps.json) so the figures stay current. That is a plain read of a public file. No key, account, cookie or identifier of yours is sent with it, and the file it reads holds only reference level statistics, never listing rows. A copy is kept on your machine so the figures still work when the host cannot be reached.
• Listings you view. While the extension is on a listing page, it records that listing as a comp observation on your own machine: the brand, model, reference, the asking price, the day it was seen, the source site and the listing's own web address. This is disclosed here and in the panel. It carries no account, no seller identity, no contact details and no browsing history beyond the listing itself, and it never leaves your computer unless you choose to export it.

What the extension does not do

• It does not collect your browsing history.
• It does not read your cookies, your passwords or your accounts.
• It does not track you, and it does not show advertising.
• It does not sell, rent or share your data with anyone.
• It sends nothing off your machine for the free margin tool: that works with the network switched off. The only two outbound calls in the whole product are the licence check you ask for and the read of our own comps file, described above.

Where your data lives

All of your own data is in your browser's local extension storage. It leaves your machine only if you copy it out yourself, or clear it, which you can do at any time from the extension's options page ("clear all data").

The licence check

The paid unlock is verified against Gumroad's licence API (https://api.gumroad.com/v2/licenses/verify) using your licence key. The result is cached locally for a set period so the extension does not need to re-check on every use. Only the key is sent.

Use of data received from Google APIs

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
